The future of low-carbon energy in the United States

In this video watch Professor Ken Baldwin, Director of the Energy Change Institute (ECI) interview the Director of the US Department of Energy, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Dr Martin Keller.

Dr Keller discussed recent advances in renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies in the US, and NREL's role in helping to decarbonise energy systems to achieve global climate targets.

He discussed recent scientific discoveries in solar, wind, bioenergy and hydrogen power, as well as energy-efficiency improvements in buildings and transport.

Dr Keller also addressed the global imperative of continued investment in clean energy research.

Originally from Germany, Dr Keller received his PhD in microbiology from the University of Regensburg, Germany.

Before becoming Director of NREL in November 2015, Dr Keller held a number of key appointments both in industry and in government research laboratories.

Dr Keller delivered a public lecture on the US Energy Transition at ANU on Wednesday 26 July 2017. Here are his slides.
