Biography

Dr Alexey M. Glushenkov is a part of Battery Storage and Grid Integration Program and is a research leader in battery materials and devices within this initiative.  He received his Master of Physics degree from Novosibirsk State University in Russia in 2003 and his PhD degree (physics, electronic materials engineering) from the Australian National University in 2009. Apart from appointments at ANU, he had previous research experiences at Boreskov Institute of Catalysis (Russia), Deakin University and the University of Melbourne (both - Australia) as well as Drexel University (the US). 

Dr Glushenkov’s research interests are centred on electrochemical energy storage in metal-ion batteries, electrochemical supercapacitors and hybrid metal-ion capacitors as well as materials that enable these energy storage cells. He is leading activities in the development of materials for beyond-lithium battery and capacitor technologies in ANU’s Battery Storage and Grid Integration Program. Dr Glushenkov’s research interests also include nanostructures and nanomaterials as well as applications of transmission electron microscopy to the analysis of energy materials.

Dr Glushenkov is a winner of 2014 Vice-chancellor’s Award for Research Excellence at Deakin University (early career researcher) and was a 2017 Emerging Investigator of Journal of Materials Chemistry A. Since 2016 Dr Glushenkov serves as an associate editor of RSC Advances (Royal Society of Chemistry).
