Energy Update/Solar Oration 2017 presentations

The annual Energy Change Institute's flagship event, ANU Energy Update 2017, brought together Australian researchers, policymakers, industry, embassy officials and members of the public to provide news on the latest world energy trends. This year's event was opened by the Honorable Dr Mike Kelly, Shadow Assistant Minister for Defence Industry and Support.

Keynote speaker, Australia's Chief Scientist, Dr Alan Finkel busted myths and legends of the electricity market (2.9MB).

Ian Cronshaw of the International Energy Agency presented the IEA's perspective on the World Energy Outlook (WEO) 2017 (1.1MB).

Panels of expert speakers also presented their perspectives on two key energy themes:

1) China's Energy Outlook

China is a focus theme of the WEO2017.

Ms Audrey Zibelman, CEO of the Australian Energy Market Operator, discussed Australia's energy transition (3MB).
