Dr Ngwe Zin has 6 years of work experience in high-tech high-volume sub-micron semiconductor manufacturing industry prior to embarking his PhD research candidature at ANU. His PhD research focuses on design, model, fabrication and characterisation of miniature silicon solar cells, used in conjunction with high-efficiency tandem solar cells.
Following his PhD thesis submission, he has started working on high-performance All-Back-Contact (ABC) silicon solar cells - a collaboration project between ANU, SERIS and Trina Solar. The ABC silicon solar cell project is progressing well since the project started since 2011.
Recently, Ngwe has been awarded a prestigious 3-year Australian Solar Institute (ASI) fellowship to pursue high-efficiency potentials of ABC silicon solar cells through innovative and cost-effective means.
His research interests are high-performance silicon solar cells, cell design, modelling, fabrication, measurement, characterisation, passivation, and industry linkage projects.
