Matthew Dornan is a Research Fellow at and Deputy Director of the Development Policy Centre in the Crawford School of Public Policy. His research focuses on economic development in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific islands, and includes work on renewable energy development, energy access, and utility regulation in the region, as well as in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) more broadly. Other areas in which Matthew has conducted research include transport infrastructure; aid from ‘traditional’ and ‘emerging’ donors; regional integration; climate change adaptation financing; and labour mobility. Matthew received his PhD from the Crawford School and has a background in public policy and economics. He previously worked across the Pacific islands as part of the Australian aid program, and has consulted for various development partners in the region.
